SofaScore API endpoint

SofaScore categories for a sport API

Returns every category (country or region, such as England or International) SofaScore lists for a sport, with id, name, slug, flag, optional two-letter code, and priority, highest priority first. Use a category `id` with category-tournaments (its competitions) and with scheduled-events (its fixtures on a date). The `sport` enum accepts `american-football`, `aussie-rules`, `badminton`, `bandy`, `baseball`, `basketball`, `beach-volley`, `cricket`, `darts`, `esports`, `floorball`, `football`, `futsal`, `handball`, `ice-hockey`, `mma`, `minifootball`, `padel`, `rugby`, `snooker`, `table-tennis`, `tennis`, `volleyball`, and `waterpolo`. Slugs are not unique across categories, so identify a category by `id`.

How this endpoint behaves

Query parameters:

sport: required enum. Allowed values: american-football, aussie-rules, badminton, bandy, baseball, basketball, beach-volley, cricket, darts, esports, floorball, football, futsal, handball, ice-hockey, mma, minifootball, padel, rugby, snooker, table-tennis, tennis, volleyball, waterpolo. The sports endpoint returns the same list.

Notable response behavior:

Categories are ordered by priority (highest first), then name. priority is 0 when SofaScore does not rank the category.
alpha2 is the two-letter code SofaScore uses for the category and is omitted for categories that have none (for example International). Slugs are not unique across categories, so identify a category by id.
The list includes every category SofaScore knows for the sport (298 for football on 2026-10-07), including virtual and amateur ones.
An invalid sport returns an invalid-parameter error before any upstream request. An empty category list from upstream is treated as an upstream error, because every supported sport has categories.
