Alongside the reviews themselves you get the product's site-wide aggregate — rating count, average rating, recommended ratio, and a five-bucket rating histogram — on every page, so you can read the rating distribution without fetching all pages.
Macy's collects star-only ratings as well as written reviews. Those arrive with ratings_only set and no title or body, which is why total_reviews and the rating_count in the summary do not always match — one counts submissions, the other counts scored ratings.
